The next few blogs will look at reproduction organ issues and health. This blog will look at reproductive health.

Our reproductive organs tend to develop in our teenage years. Some schools teach sexual education and biology but not about not about how develop or maintain healthy internal organs. In general, we are not taught about what foods and nutrition are needed to nurture reproductive health. Food not only affects moods but internal organs like the reproductive systems and can negatively impact fertility.

There are many reasons that a male may be infertile including hormonal issues, low sperm count, testicular or scrotum issues. There are many reasons that a female may be infertile including age (due to limited menstrual cycle), hormonal imbalances, damaged womb or underlying health conditions.

Reproductive health is not just about preparing for reproducing and having children, it’s also about learning about your own body and meeting own needs to be your best.

Protecting your reproductive organs from disease, especially from sexual intercourse, is important to live a healthy life. There are many protective options that you can research and decide which suit you.

In relation to men and women, lifestyle choices can impact reproductive health. Factors such as stress, diet, heavy smoking, excessive alcohol drinking, poor diet and lack of self-care can contribute to underlying health issues which will affect internal organs.

As we get older, especially after 40 years old, women need to prepare for entering the menopause phase and men need to have regular tests to make sure own prostate is healthy because cancer is a risk (especially in black men).

Focus on nurturing your internal organs and not just your body. It’s what’s inside that counts. Your internal systems need to be cared for so that everything functions efficiently (mentally, physically and emotionally).
