This blog will look at how to prepare for winter because the colder weather lowers our moods and energy levels, the lack of sunlight can negatively impact own immune system and make our self more susceptible to viruses. This seasonal solstice tends to begin at the end of December, but the yearly date can be found online.
Acknowledging this season as a time to spend more time with self allows you to practice more self-care.
It’s a great time to reflect on the highs and the lows of the year, especially in terms of mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health. It allows self to slow down and prepare to do less than in the warmer, energetic months.
It is important to check in with self and assess thinking, moods and focuses in relation to mental health. It’s natural to want to hibernate more in the colder months which means there’s more time to eat so it’s important to be mindful of diet and exercise daily at home (or outside) to develop or maintain physical health. Low moods in winter can make self feel more emotional so its important to identify triggers to be able to put prevention strategies in place. Also, knowing how to understand own emotions allows self to be in control of own emotions.
Preparing for each incoming season allows self to align and move forward as needed easier with intention.
